Reflective Response Activity 3 Question 2

Many car manufactures embrace history with a passion. In most cases with a car it’s about buying the brand with history rather than the car itself. People will still consider the specs of a car but are probably more interested in the brand. Porsche, Lamborghini and Maserati are examples of this.

The Porsche 911 is a car that embraces history. Introduce in 1963, the Porsche is a sport car from Germany. It is considered a one of the most successful cars in Porsche’s history. The basic model of the car over time has not changed much. The car itself is meant to take Some die hard fans of other cars call it a more fancy version of the volks beetle. Top gear once tried to destroy a 911 without much success until they blow it up and probably to the dread of many die hard Porsche fans. The link can be seen here.

The Porsche 911 is great racing car but still has many problems that were first encounter when built. The engine is in the back of the car. Traditionally left for the boot, which makes handling harder. Most companies would probably then put in the front of the car but Porsche are insistent it is better in the back. Putting the engine in the back makes it easier for an inexperinced driver to spin out. This has now become a trademark of porsche. Porsche are institing that the engine is better at the back however from driver experience it’s clearly not.
